PI: LSST/ SAAO grant (2022) - R1.9 million
As described on the Leadership Positions page, I was one of the first three South African LSST Principal Investigators. As a result, I was awarded a R1.9 million grant from the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, to fund a PhD student and postdoc to support LSST-related research.
PI: IAU Office of Astronomy for Development grant (2019) - R50 000
The IAU OAD, an international branch of the IAU headquartered in South Africa, provides competitive yearly funding for selected outreach projects. I successfully obtained a grant in 2019 to support the development of a sophisticated website to support the Supernova Foundation.
Co-I: Swiss/SA bilateral, PI Dr Kenda Knowles (2023) - R1.1 million
Dr Kenda Knowles, Dr Emma Tolley and I successfully obtained a grant from the NRF/SNSF to support collaborative research in radio astronomy. The funding is primarily used to support postdoctoral researchers and student travel between the two countries.
Co-I: NASA grant, PI Prof Loren Anderson (2024) - R4.5 million
Prof Loren Anderson, a collaborator from West Virginia University, lead a successful NASA proposal to support research making use of my anomaly detection software to search for supernova remnants in radio data.
MeerKAT Telescope Proposal (2024)
My team and I were successful in obtaining MeerKAT telescope time to more closely observe SAURON (discussed in my Research Projects pages). As a cutting-edge internationally renowned instrument, observing time on MeerKAT is valuable and highly competitive to obtain.
