Since 2016, I have given over 30 invited talks at international conferences around the world, the majority in the last five years. This includes two review talks at "IAP - Debating the Potential of Machine Learning in Astronomy" (2021) and at the "IAU Symposium 368: Machine Learning in Astronomy: Possibilities and Pitfalls" (2022). In 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic offered me the unique opportunity to give an invited talk at three different continental astronomical society meetings: the American Astronomical Society, the European Astronomical Society, and the African Astronomical Society. These meetings are among the largest in astronomy field, often with thousands of participants. More recently, I gave two invited talks (one on my research, the other on women in astronomy) at the International Astronomical Union General Assembly in 2024, held for the first time on African soil in Cape Town. This is the largest astronomy conference in the world with over 2000 participants in attendance. A few of my presentations have been recorded and are displayed on the Presentations page.
I have served on the Scientific Organising Committee for several international conferences including the "Breakthrough Discuss" meeting in Oxford, UK, "Astroinformatics" in Puerto Natales, Chile and the "Dynamic Radio Sky" in Sydney, Australia. In addition, I served on the Scientific Organising Committee for the annual SARAO Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Research Conference from 2020 to 2025.
I have been invited to lecture on machine learning at the European Space Agency Data Analysis and Statistics Workshop in Spain, the Tonale Cosmology Winter School in Italy and the BIUST-MPG African Astronomy School in Botswana.
Over the years I have been fortunate to attend many conferences all over the world and collaborate with researchers of many nationalities and backgrounds. I wanted to share some of my favourite photos which may inspire future astronomers by highlighting one of the most wonderful perks of the job.
